SPRING GRANT RECIPIENT HIGHLIGHTS
$100,000 was granted to Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) to support two essential service areas: Outreach Services and Food Security. These vital programs are very important community support systems that are frequently relied upon by working residents, families and children, and seniors on fixed incomes.
$51,910 was granted to the Whistler Public Library to help transform an underutilized prominent space into a vibrant, cultural focal point that will create greater functionality and enhance the visitor experience. This converted space will boast an elevated cultural display platform with integrated bench seating, paired with the creation of a dedicated, accessible, and visually engaging showcase for the library's highly popular Unusual Items Collection.
PearlSpace Support Services Society received $30,000 to help expand access to essential mental health care by providing counselling subsidies for single mothers, children, youth, families, and fathers, ensuring that cost doesn't stand in the way of healing and well-being.
$25,000 was granted to the Pemberton and District Health Care Foundation towards the purchase of a new Point of Care Ultrasound device for the Pemberton Health Care Centre Emergency Department. The new POCUS device will help local healthcare meet the needs of the rapidly growing community.
$25,000 was granted to the Squamish Skateboard Association toward piloting a covered skatepark facility at the Squamish Oceanfront that will serve the Sea to Sky Corridor. Existing outdoor skateparks are unusable for much of the year due to rain and other inclement weather and the SSA aims to create an affordable, accessible covered space where people can stay active, build confidence, and connect with their community year-round.
$20,500 was awarded to The Pemberton & District Museum & Archives Society to upgrade their restroom facilities in support of the site's growing, year-round use. The new amenities are important to meet the needs of increased programming, events and venue rentals.
Whistler Gymnastics was granted $20,400 for two essential facility upgrades. Funds will go towards the procurement and installation of a high-efficiency air conditioning system and the replacement of the gymnastics flooring to maintain a safe training environment for users.
Protect Our Winters (POW) received $20,000 to support their Whistler Supercharged Program. The funding will be used exclusively to deliver programming in the Sea to Sky Corridor.
